Eucerin Original Healing Cream
Summary
Eucerin Original Healing Cream scores 30/100. Marketed for 'extra-dry, compromised skin' but the formula is essentially a petroleum-cream base preserved with methylchloroisothiazolinone + methylisothiazolinone (MCI/MI). The EU restricts MCI/MI in leave-on cosmetics to 15ppm because of severe contact-dermatitis outbreaks documented in dermatology journals -- the American Contact Dermatitis Society named MI the 'Contact Allergen of the Year' in 2013. The lotion also contains BHT (NTP-flagged carcinogen-suspect antioxidant), mineral oil, petrolatum heavy, lanolin alcohol (top-50 sensitizer), aluminum stearates, and PEG-40 sorbitan peroleate. No fragrance is a plus, but the preservative system and BHT push this below other mainstream lotions. Owned by Beiersdorf (Nivea parent).

Butylated hydroxytoluene -- synthetic antioxidant. NTP lists as 'reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen' at high doses; flagged as endocrine disruptor by EWG.

Wool-grease emollient. Effective moisturizer but well-documented contact allergen -- a top-50 cosmetic sensitizer.

Aluminum compound used as stabilizer/anti-caking. Bound form is generally inert but cumulative aluminum body burden is debated.

Ethoxylated emulsifier. PEGs can be contaminated with 1,4-dioxane (Prop 65 carcinogen) and ethylene oxide depending on purification.

Petroleum-derived humectant/solvent. EWG flags low concern; can be a sensitizer in higher concentrations but cosmetically inert at typical use.
