What is Bio-based PE?
Bio-Based PE, or bio-based polyethylene, is a form of polyethylene plastic made from renewable sources such as sugarcane instead of fossil fuels. It is chemically identical to traditional polyethylene but is derived from plant material, making it a more sustainable option.
It is used primarily in products where durable and flexible plastic is needed without relying on petroleum-based sources. Currently, there is minimal health evidence to suggest any direct effects from Bio-Based PE when used in consumer products, as it is considered chemically inert when in its final product form.
