Accessibility

Our commitment

Scout Health wants everyone to be able to use scouthealthapp.com, including people who rely on screen readers, braille displays, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we test against it before shipping changes to the site's navigation, colors, or interactive features.

What the site does

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone. A "Skip to content" link is the first tab stop on every page, and the focused element always has a visible outline.
  • Every button, link, image, and form field has a text name that screen readers announce, including icon-only controls and product photos.
  • Scout scores are announced as text (for example "Scout score 85 out of 100 — Good"), and ingredient ratings are spoken as words, not conveyed by color alone.
  • Text and interface colors meet the WCAG contrast minimum of 4.5:1.
  • Pages use proper headings and landmarks so you can jump between sections, and the site works at 200% zoom and with reduced-motion settings.

Known limitations

The interactive map on the Map page is drawn by Google Maps, whose canvas has limited screen-reader support. The same places are available as text: use the map's search box, or the list of places beneath the map, both of which work with a keyboard and screen reader. We are working to improve this.

Tell us about a problem

If any part of the site is hard to use with assistive technology, email team@scouthealthapp.com with the page address and what happened. We read every message and aim to reply within two business days, and we will provide the information you were looking for in an accessible form while we fix the page.
