Dichloromethane is classified as a probable human carcinogen by IARC (Group 2A) and is linked to liver damage and central nervous system effects. The EPA banned most consumer uses of methylene chloride in 2024. While the level here is lower than some other dyes in the same test, there is no safe intentional use case for this contaminant in a scalp-applied product.
