Rooted's tea bags are 100% unbleached cotton, stitched closed instead of heat-sealed — there is no polypropylene, PLA, or nylon used anywhere in the bag construction. Independently verified by PolyGone Systems (2025, ID #AS10222025), a specialized third-party microplastic analysis lab. This is the decisive variable for bagged tea: Hernandez et al. 2019 measured ~11.6 billion microplastic and ~3.1 billion nanoplastic particles released per cup from plastic-containing bags at 95 °C, and Banaei et al. 2024 confirmed particle uptake by human intestinal cells in vitro. Cotton stitched bags eliminate that exposure entirely.
