Summary

Coppertone Sport SPF 50 scores 14/100. Four chemical filters: Avobenzone 3% + Homosalate 10% + Octisalate 5% + Octocrylene 7%. Homosalate is meaningfully above the EU 7.34% cap. The inactive base includes alcohol denat (drying), dimethicone, fragrance, BHT, and methylisothiazolinone preservative (the EU 'Contact Allergen of the Year' 2013). 'Sport' marketing implies water-resistance for 80 minutes via the silicone/acrylate film, but the underlying chemistry is identical to the standard Coppertone line. In 2021 Bayer (then-owner) recalled five Coppertone aerosol spray products for benzene contamination -- like with Banana Boat, an aerosol/propellant issue, not directly this lotion. Owned by Beiersdorf since 2019.
