What is Strawberry Juice Concentrate?
Strawberry Juice Concentrate is derived by removing the water content from strawberry juice, resulting in a more potent flavor and nutrient concentration. This process allows the concentrate to be stored and used more conveniently than fresh strawberry juice.
It is commonly used in foods and beverages to impart a natural strawberry flavor and sweetness. While it retains many nutrients found in fresh strawberries, including vitamin C and antioxidants, the concentration process may also alter the levels of some compounds.
When you see it on a label, it generally indicates a push towards natural flavoring over artificial options, though it may also contribute sugars naturally occurring in the fruit.
Commonly found in: beverages, snacks, desserts, breakfast cereals, supplements, bottled water
Benefits
- Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants.
- Provides a natural flavor alternative to artificial additives.
Strawberry Juice Concentrate is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) when used appropriately in food products.
While generally considered nutritious, some studies suggest that nutrient levels may vary based on processing methods.
As a fruit-derived product, it aligns with vegan dietary choices.
