What is Tangerine juice from concentrate?
Tangerine juice from concentrate is a type of fruit juice where the liquid is extracted from tangerines, concentrated by removing water, and then reconstituted with added water during packaging. This process allows for easier transportation and storage due to the reduced volume of concentrate.
It's used in food and beverages to provide a natural citrus flavor and sweetness. The health profile of tangerine juice is generally positive, offering vitamin C and other antioxidants, though it is lower in fiber compared to whole fruit. However, being a fruit juice, it can be high in natural sugars, so moderation is key.
When you see tangerine juice from concentrate on a label, it indicates the use of rehydrated concentrate rather than fresh juice, which is common in processed foods and drinks like sodas and flavored dairy products.
