U by Kotex Click Compact Tampons Regular

The tampon body is entirely rayon with zero cotton. Rayon is a semi-synthetic fiber derived from chemically processed wood pulp whose manufacturing can produce trace levels of dioxins and furans. Unlike Tampax Pearl which at least blends in some cotton, Kotex uses rayon exclusively.

Classified as a suspected carcinogen (EU Category 2). Used purely as a cosmetic whitener to make the tampon appear bright white. Provides zero functional benefit and is entirely unnecessary in a product inserted internally for hours.

Three different synthetic plastic materials in the tampon body — polyester thread, polyethylene for smooth removal, and polypropylene fibers. Multiple synthetics in prolonged vaginal mucosal contact where organic cotton alone would suffice.

Petroleum-derived wax. A lower-priority concern compared to the rayon, TiO2, and synthetic plastics, but a petroleum derivative where natural alternatives exist.
